Obsidian Press Soundtracks

Our Music Philosophy

Obsidian Press publishes books that don’t just tell stories—they build worlds. We believe reading is a full-body experience, shaped by mood, memory, and atmosphere.

That’s why we experiment with original “book soundtracks”—curated music meant to deepen immersion without dictating interpretation. A soundtrack can function like a second narrative thread: it sets tone, evokes place, and carries emotional subtext in a way words alone sometimes can’t. It’s our way of honoring story as something you don’t merely consume, but enter—and leave changed.

So, put on your favorite headphones, and open our pages of obsidian.

Lying in a Tomb: The Soundtrack, by Jeannette M. Potts, MD.

Open the book.
Then listen to the music of Mexico and the era in which Dr. Potts researched the mummies.

These songs are not background—they are atmosphere. They carry the pulse of streets, the echo of cantinas, the ache of rancheras, and the warmth of memory. Let them guide you deeper into the pages.
